Enduro in the Aran Valley
If you see a mountain bike you only think about the descents that you will mark on your next exit, enduro is your sport. Propose the 3 best Enduro routes in the Aran Valley or Vall d’Aran is very difficult, because of the quality of the area and the work that has been done so that enduro lovers find here a mecca of the sport. In this post, we propose a challenge, come to Vielha, know the area and then propose the enduro routes that are the best for you.
Personally, a mountain bike area that drives me crazy is Enduromies. This is a unique forest trail that gives access to two trails downhill with different variants and different difficulties. In addition, it has the advantage that access to the trails of descent can be realized from different points of the rise, the reason why the options multiply.
It records the following names: Naut Aran, is a municipality that comprises several municipalities and where space has been built enduromies; Gessa, is the name of the village from where you access the ascent, called Eth Esquiró; The descents are called: Eth Sanglièr and Eth Taro.
1) Enduromies – Sanglièr
The blue trail, eth sanglier, is an old road that looks for the lower slope and ends in Salardú. Curves, curves and more curves with an apotheosis ending.
- Difficulty: Medium
- Length: 2,5 Km
- Difference: -510m
Another variant is Eth Sanglier 2.0, which offers a trail with slopes, some rock-garden and several roots, links with the blue track.
2) Enduromies – Eth Taro
Enduromies section ending in Arties. The red trails are of more difficult because of their greater inclination and obstacles. Eth taro is a combination of sloping areas with twisting areas and open areas where you can let yourself go.
- Difficulty: Difficult
- Length: 3,5 km
- Difference: -580 m
The other red lane is Eth Taro AirLine. A line of 8 mid-level jumps on a very wide and marked track. It contains step-downs and plateaus of between 6 and 10 meters.
3) Tuca Forest
Leaving the Enduromies area, we propose this circular route that departs from Vielha. This itinerary combines a gentle but extended ascent through the Tuca forest with a spectacular descent down the old road of Sarrahèra, where you have to be alert not to “disengage” from your mountain bike. To give you an idea, the route combines asphalt (19%), dirt track (66%) and trail (15%)..
Itinerary: We leave Vielha and we reach the village of Betren, we continue along the road until we reach the junction with the Tuca track, which we take to the right. The ascent on this track is continuous. A point of reference is the recreational area of the Costassa in km 2,5. We continue along the main track until km 13, where we leave it and take the track to the right that takes us north of the tunnel of Vielha. The track goes up to 1525 m and begins the descent. It is necessary to be very attentive to the crossing of the 8,3 km, where you have to take the path that leaves to the left and begins the more technical section of the route since the change of direction is very abrupt. The trail will leave us in the track of the bank of the Nere, which will finish in the high part of Vielha, where its oldest streets are.
- Difficulty: Difficult
- Length: 13 km
- Time: 2h 30′
- Difference: +560
This is an example of 3 routes with a lot of unevenness that you can do in the Aran Valley … The enduro descents that we propose … you will have to discover them with us … what are you waiting for ..
