THE ENLARGEMENT OF BAQUEIRA BERET TWELVE REPLIES

1. What will be the enlargement of the BAQUEIRA-BERET ski resort?
The project consists of the enlargement and reorganization of the Peülla, which will enhance two skiable areas in the area of Bonaigua: Clot Gran (to be new) and Cap del Port (to be expanded). Clot Gran will include 4 new ski lifts with their corresponding tracks, beginners area, parking with access from the C-28 road. In addition, it will have a point of information and attention to the visitors of the National Park of Aigüestortes. For its part, Cap del Port will have two car parks and 3 chairlifts that connect with the ones of Clot Gran. In short, all the services of an independent ski resort, with twelve marked tracks that would be connected to the rest of Baqueira station.
2. Who drives the project?
The project is driven by the company that manages Baqueira Beret and is handled by the town council of Alt Àneu.
3. How long will it take for the enlargement/reordering to be ready?
The station plans to develop the project in three phases of six years each. The works will begin predictably at the end of this winter season.
4. What is the PEULLA area like today?
It has two ski lifts with its slopes and two parking areas, a restaurant and services centre in the Port de la Bonaigua. In addition, there is a building for the sale of pass and services in the Clot Gran. A water raft was also built to be used by the produced snow net. The current problem is that this ski lift that links the region of Pallars Sobirà with Baqueira is more days stopped than in operation because of the wind.
5. Why has it taken so long to pass?
The project stayed more than a year stagnant because in the layout of one of the chairlifts, some pylon invades the protected soil and the periphery of the national Park of Aigüestortes. A modification that had been made because of its exposure to the wind.
In addition, it has had to have the approval of the studies of environmental impact, mobility, landscape integration, the institutions of Aran and Pallars.
6. What investment will be made?
The estimated total investment is 22,850,000€.

The municipality of Alt Àneu, belonging to the region of Pallars Sobirà (Lleida), consists of 8 population centres that are distributed along the valleys formed by the Noguera Pallaresa and the river Bonaigua, occupying an area of 193.79 Km2, in the most Northern Pallars Sobirà, with a population of 402 inhabitants (2016).
